Program

Summer 2024

July 21-26, 2024
Emory University | Atlanta, GA

THIS is not like ANY OTHER PROGRAM out there! 🧗🏽🫀

OperaWorks, a program long synonymous with innovation, continues to be a beacon for courageous and forward-thinking artists and teachers.

We designed the one-of-a-kind Engaged Artists Program for motivated singers who want to strengthen their performance skills, expand their stage mastery, and learn how to market themselves. Here, singers and teaching artists perform in EVERY session EVERY day to explore new expressive options, eliminate negative self-talk, build inner empowerment, and achieve artistic freedom. In contrast to production-based programs, OperaWorks develops complete artists in a process-oriented atmosphere. Each program teaches essential stage and business skills for the modern singer. Classes focus on developing the ability to express freely - musically and dramatically - with the voice and the body, regulate anxiety in high-pressure situations, and showcase one’s strengths in the evolving performing arts industry.

Teaching Artists:

In addition to the Engaged Artists Program, OperaWorks offers a Teaching Artist module with an exclusive Basic Training Session on OperaWorks’ unparalleled holistic pedagogy for the classroom. This Basic Training Session will focus on how to incorporate teaching performance skills, acting and movement, and process-oriented pedagogy. This module is especially tailored towards teachers of singers and will take place before the intensive.

OperaWorks’ transformational “inside-out” approach to training is taught in a supportive environment where singers and teaching artists work in-depth musically, dramatically, and physically without fear of any toxic criticism. This intensively interactive week features performance techniques, acting, improvisation, coaching, Alexander Technique, yoga, conducting, physical theater, and career planning.

With an unwavering commitment to adaptability, thriving in an atmosphere of change and uncertainty, and cutting-edge techniques, OperaWorks is the transformative force, empowering a diverse community of singers to navigate and excel in the dynamic post-pandemic creative world.
